Welcome!

Recognizing our connection to every being on the planet and our place within its life-giving systems, our vision is to bring sustainable practices* and Earth awareness into every function of our Fellowship's community. You are invited to participate in helping us realize that vision. In fact, we can't be successful without you! Every contribution of action and awareness, no matter how small it may seem, will bring us closer to our goal.

We invite you to visit our pages frequently to learn what new opportunities we have developed. There will be activities for kids, for families, for adults, and for the various Fellowship groups and committees. The Green Sanctuary leaders are excited about all the possibilities.

We also invite your participation at our planning meetings. Your ideas and energy for projects and events is always welcome!

GREEN SANCTUARY COMMITTEE MEETINGS
3rd Wednesday of the month, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

*Sustainable practices are those that do not deplete the very systems they rely on; they are managed to be renewable over both the short term and the long term.

"To see water as a source of life, not merely resource, is the challenge of a new synthesis of science and religion in our times."

- Mary Evelyn Tucker, 2001

The UU Service Committee and the UU Legislative Ministry-California Promote Water Justice

UUSC's Water Praxis flyer is a download you can study to learn about what courageous people are doing to make sure that everyone has access to safe, sufficient, affordable water to meet their daily needs.

• UULM Action Network along with a broad coalition of environmental, environmental justice, fishing, and community groups joined together in a successful effort to block a $9.3 billion dollar California water bond. While climate change and other factors strain the ability to supply water across the state, it was felt that a more sensitive and comprehensive response including the use of conservation on many levels would be a more effective approach. Read the report, "More With Less: Agricultural Water Conservation and Efficiency in California."

• Read Attorney General Jerry Brown's letter to Siskiyou County dissecting Nestle Corporation's Draft Environmental Impact Report for their plan to bottle and export water from the McCloud River watershed. This document shines a powerful light on corporate greed and disdain for stewardship and truth.

Last year a group of young adults participated in a UU faith-based Climate Change and Water Justice trip, traveling from the far north of California to the central valley and visiting agricultural communities along the way, talking with farmers, workers, and families about water issues.
