Our Projects

Element: Sustainability
Goals:

  • To promote individual and congregational choices that consume the least of the earth’s resources and produce the least waste possible.
  • To make conscious decisions to challenge and reprioritize our lifestyles to insure the health of the natural world and to leave the earth a better place for the generations to come.
  • To encourage and facilitate dialog and understanding that there are many paths to live our sustainable values and lighten our environmental footprint.

The projects: We must complete 4 projects, including one on energy conservation.

  1. Living Simply group to promote ways to decrease waste and consumerism
  2. Promote Sustainable Lifestyle Choices
  3. Promote a fellowship Recycling Program
  4. Promote Gardening & Permaculture
  5. Develop and promote a minimum of four Sustainability Sundays yearly
  6. Promote Energy Conservation for the Fellowship and in member homes

Element: Environmental Justice
Our Goals:

  • To promote active participation toward our goal of ethical, balanced and responsible uses of land and renewable resources.
  • To affirm the fundamental right to political, economic, cultural and environmental self-determination of all peoples.
  • To honor the cultural integrity of our communities and provide fair access to all resources.
  • To advocate and support congregational and public policies that mandate environmental justice free from any form of discrimination or bias.

The Projects: We must complete 2 Projects, 1 in collaboration with another group

  1. Develop and promote Earth Protection Policies to protect the earth’s resources for all peoples
  2. Provide members with opportunities to purchase Fair Trade products

Element: Religious Education
Goals:

  • To educate all generations about the complexity of the earth’s systems and how to live sustainably without compromising the needs of future generations, with the deep understanding that everything is interconnected.

The projects: We must complete 1 Adult R.E. and 1 Children’s R.E. Project

  1. Offer a Structured Adult Ed discussion course; include teens
  2. Children’s RE to be designed by RE committee
  3. Intergenerational R.E. programs

Element: Worship and Celebration
Our Goals:

  • To celebrate and promote eco-spirituality as a component of our worship and theologies.
  • To inspire and strengthen the congregation’s commitment to constructive action in living our values.
  • To bring children and adults together in fun and meaningful ways to celebrate the earth and the natural world.

The projects: We must complete 2 activities.

  1. Eco-spirituality Celebration projects to highlight greening life and seasonal changes to be featured 2-4 times yearly
  2. Earth based Sunday services topics to be featured 2-4 times yearly
  3. Bring worship into Nature
