“To care for anyone else enough to make their problems one's own, is ever the beginning of one's real ethical development.”

Caring Ministries

A row of photos with a rough border. The photos are: a man with a microphone and several young ladies reciting our chalice lighting words; a choit sings; a quilt with the word "Welcome" on it; Rev. Beth speaks into a microphone; two senior ladies sitting at a sign-up table; a lady holding a "Pray for Peace" sign; a group of boys wearing hats.

Palomar UU Fellowship is known for being a caring community. As an aspect of shared ministry, members and friends take care of each other in various ways – formal and informal.

We see caring as a holistic endeavor that we are all called to engage in within our congregation. It is not only a response to crises, although it is that. It is also about creating an environment in which members of the community attend to the interdependent aspects of their lives and being. So we pay attention to physical health, mental and spiritual health, as well as to the health of our relationships. When members are in need there is a group of caring individuals ready to help.

As a regular part of her ministry Rev. Beth makes hospital and home visits, as well as provides counseling and spiritual guidance.
